Governance

The Handover: where the machine stops and a person signs.

Every consequential action in an X7 system passes through the same gate. AI can propose. Only a named, accountable person can record the decision — and the record keeps their name, the time, and the provenance of what they saw.

An AI has drafted an action and placed it at the threshold. Nothing happens until a human decides. Try asking the machine to approve it.

  • 01Three states, one direction. PROPOSED → RECORDED or DECLINED. There is no state a machine can reach on its own.
  • 02Every record is signed. A RECORDED decision carries a named signer, a timestamp, and the provenance of the evidence they saw.
  • 03Machines cannot advance states. AI prepares the threshold. It never crosses it.
  • 04Declining is honourable. A DECLINED record is a decision too — kept with the same care as an approval.
